If heat exchanger designs are not sufficient according to the VDI Heat Atlas, why should CFD also be carried out?
In complex geometries, CFD can be used to determine the heat transfers and the heat transfer coefficients for your design tool; you do not need to carry out any elaborate experiments for this.
In addition, such effects can be taken into account in the case of an uneven inflow. Less large safety factors result in a smaller and cheaper apparatus.
Is it necessary to invest in a CFD study?
